When I was single, I did not know the joy that children can bring to your life. When I married, my lovely wife fulfilled that joy by giving me two great children.
As a parent, I did not know the joy that grandchildren can bring to your life. When my son and daughter-in-law, blessed my wife and me with two grandchildren, that joy was fulfilled for a second time in my life.
At age two and a half, my grandson explores life without a care in the world. He is all boy and is ready to tackle new things or wrestle with me, at the drop of a hat.
My granddaughter, at age four and a half, is more conscious of her surroundings. She is all girl and likes to play princess dress-up, dance, play soccer and will also wrestle with me at the drop of the hat.
One day, after we danced in her living room, like a prince and princess, she stopped and gave me a great big hug and then whispered in my ear, "Someday, I am going to get married, but I will never leave you Granddad." I whispered back, "I love you."
On a special day in late November, she touched my heart and brought a tear to my eye. I want to be there the day she gets married to her prince and we will dance again.
The rose is for every granddaughter, who will someday find her prince.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
